Bed Bugs in Atlanta are being controlled best by using
Heat Treatments !
There is no resistance to heat by Bed Bugs. Bed Bugs were pretty much eliminated in the U.S. in the 1950’s with DDT. It has however been banned and the existing Bed Bugs have huge resistance to pesticides. We are finding that by using pesticides you can cut down on the numbers but cannot seem to eliminate the problem for good. When introduced to temperatures over 117 degrees they die within a few minutes. The eggs however take over an hour to eliminate with heat. This is why when we reach temperatures above 117 degrees we hold and sustain these high heat temperatures for many hours. A Heat Treatment can typically take from 4-6 hours and maybe more.
